Stone Street, FiDi, NYC
It was a beautiful sunny fall day on Stone Street in the Financial District of New York City. The hustling street was filled with outdoor tents and benches from all the FiDi restaurants for happy hour. The streets were filled with people on this beautiful day, adding to the city’s atmosphere. As I discreetly position myself among the charming cobblestone streets and historic buildings, I’m ready to capture the moment that will change my couple’s lives forever. The crisp autumn air and golden-hued leaves create the perfect romantic setting for a NYC surprise proposal, with the cozy ambiance of this iconic street.
The Financial District Proposal
As Tate and Ruari romantically stroll down the street, I follow closely, blending into the background and the crowd of people to keep the surprise intact. Stone Street, New York holds a significant meaning for this couple, which was what first sparked the surprise proposal idea. Ruari and Tate were both bartenders at bars across from each other. One day, Tate decided to walk across the street after her shift. It’s crazy how fast 9 years could be as they went through ups and downs in their relationship. It was just before the pandemic that they came back together, bringing this proposal a full circle to their love story.
I see him start to get on his knees for his surprise proposal. I smile as I see her raw emotions for this beautiful NYC fall proposal. Her shock and joy were captivating to photograph and document for their moment coupled with his nervous excitement. The heartfelt embrace shared between the newly engaged couple was so romantic in front of the perfect ambiance in NYC. As a proposal photographer in New York City, this is an elegant and timeless moment shared that will hold meaning for the rest of their lives. Every moment felt intimate and magical with the vibrant fall colors and the quaint atmosphere of Stone Street.
Tate’s best friend was also here to add to the surprise since Seeley was not supposed to be in New York City this weekend. It was so touching to see them embrace Tate with so much love for this beautiful proposal moment. I continue to capture all the candid reactions and tender moments. Tate was surrounded by her closest friends and the love shared between them was so evident through their emotions.

Then, we walked down to the pier for some romantic sunset photos with the water view. I smile as they continue to feel their raw emotions with each other as a newly engaged couple. Having an engagement session right after a proposal always makes it so much more intimate. The emotions are so new, making the engagement photos extra special.
