It was the perfect winter day in Fort Greene, Brooklyn for an indoor surprise proposal in NYC. This NYC proposal in Brooklyn occurs in a reception hall at the couple’s apartment building. Alex and Melissa have been dated for over 11 years and met through mutual friends back on the West Coast. They’ve moved to New York and have lived with their dog at this very apartment building for several years. There were many memories with their neighbors in this hall during the holidays and even just their regular evenings. NYC Proposal in Brooklyn
I step into this apartment building at the heart of Fort Greene. I waited for Alex to come back down with Melissa and their dog. As they entered the room, Melissa smiled and knew immediately what was happening. It was a romantic scenery with the natural light filtering in from the windows and the exceptional arch infrastructure surrounded by the classy chandelier lights. A large bouquet mixed with white and pink flowers stands out at the center of the room. They walked towards it and Alex got on his knee to pop the question. The excitement and raw emotions from the reaction to the ring, the embrace, and the waves of laughter shared between the two were beautiful to photograph.
Winter Engagement Session in Fort Greene
After their emotions subsided, we jumped straight into a full engagement session throughout the reception. The architecture made all the different angles and shots extremely unique and elegant. As a proposal photographer in NYC, I like to get a mixture of candid and posed couple photos. I enjoy photographing playful shots of them holding hands and embracing each other. The pear-shaped engagement ring in the elegant purple color was perfect for Melissa! It matched her nails perfectly, making the close-up ring shot so much more stunning.
