Central Park, Manhattan, New York City
It was a crisp winter day in New York City and the perfect day for a Manhattan proposal. Central Park sparkled brightly from the blanket of snow on the ground. The trees stand bare with some branches dusted in white while families and tourists admire the frozen ponds. The sky hangs low and gray, but occasional bursts of sunlight break through, casting a soft glow over the scene. The park feels peaceful yet alive, with winter’s chill making every breath feel fresh and invigorating. I waited at an intimate lookout area with waterfront view and the El Dorado Twin Towers for this surprise proposal in Manhattan.
Stephanie and Alex met through mutual friends and have been together for over 8 years! They are from Vancouver, Canada, and planned a New York City trip for Stephanie’s birthday weekend. Alex reached out to me to be his NYC proposal photographer a few weeks before this big trip. Proposing in Central Park was part of his vision, especially since it would be on Stephanie’s birthday. It would also be the perfect way to end the trip before they fly back to Vancouver. He mentioned that he wanted to propose at a more intimate spot during our call and I knew the perfect spot!
Manhattan Proposal at Central Park
As I watched Alex and Stephanie enter the trail to this scenic spot, I followed closely behind with my camera. I blended in with the few others who were walking through to take a look at the peaceful view of the water. We waited for all the people to trickle out as he looked back and saw me at a distance. He smiled and looked at Stephanie, pulling her closer to whisper something in her ear. I knew that it was happening as I heard Stephanie gasp from a distance and started getting emotional.
It was a beautiful moment to witness Alex getting on his knees in front of his girlfriend. Stephanie had no idea this was happening. It was amazing to see the waves of emotions, from being shocked to being loving and happy. This winter proposal was beautiful and intimate at such a public park in New York City. I love every moment of this Manhattan proposal. Huge congratulations to Alex and Steph!

Engagement Photos in NYC
After taking some of the initial reactions of Alex and Steph at this scenic spot in Central Park, we move into the couple portraits. I take engagement photos for them in this bustling city as a newly engaged couple. They were whispering to each other and processing what just happened. I smiled and was in awe to see the many intimate moments that they were having. The emerald engagement ring was also stunning with the golden bands. It suits her perfectly, especially with the other gold bands that she already has. Being able to capture such a monumental moment for this couple as a NYC engagement photographer is the best part of my job. These photos will forever be cherished, especially for such a meaningful day. I know the importance of these milestones and I am so happy I was able to do that for this Manhattan proposal.
