It was a sunny fall day for a surprise proposal in NYC at the heart of the financial district. A beautiful and romantic proposal has been in the works for several weeks. I get to the 60th floor of Manhatta Restaurant on Liberty Street. It was exhilarating to be in the private room of Manhatta with such a breathtaking city skyline view. The restaurant, perched high above the city with sweeping views of Manhattan and the East River, sets the stage for a magical moment. The candles were placed perfectly on the floor along with rose petals that made a pathway for the soon-to-be engaged couple. I am so happy to be the couple’s New York City proposal photographer on such an exciting and intimate day!
I hid in a corner inside Manhatta’s private room until Erik, the proposer, made his way to the door first. We positioned him perfectly against the window before bringing his girlfriend into the room. Holly’s surprise was just a beautiful and intimate one to capture. I smile as she walks through the floor of rose petals. I see Holly’s eyes lit up as Erik gets on his knees for this NYC proposal.
The shock and elation against the panoramic Manhattan skyline was such a perfect moment to photograph. She immediately said yes and broke into a smile. The sunlight glistens off the East River, casting a warm, golden glow that enhances the intimacy of the moment. I capture all the raw emotions—the tears, laughter, and the ecstatic “yes” to make sure every shot tells the story of this unforgettable NYC proposal.
